David Beer
Managing Director, Industry RE Sustainability

David is the Managing Director of Industry RE Sustainability (IRES) and has over twenty years of commercial, management experience. Working across sectors including Finance, Oil & Gas, Mining and Energy, he has helped medium and large companies through the varying scale, and the different stages of their sustainable business evolution, in order to integrate sustainability issues into corporate strategy, decision making and reporting.

He holds a New Zealand Electrical Engineering degree and for the past decade has used his technical and commercial experience within the environmental sustainability arena, with a particular emphasis in climate risk management, David has advised blue-chip businesses on how to adapt to the challenges of our changing climate.

Recently, David was pivotal in setting up the Guardian News and Media’s – Guardian Sustainable Business platform (GSB) to support the global transition to a sustainable future. He has also advised ‘Climate Change: The New Economy’ as their Non-Executive Director for many years and he is a member 2011 International Green Awards Steering committee.
