Dr Rachel Capon
Dr Rachel Capon is a professional climate scientist and Chartered Meteorologist of over 12 years experience with outstanding analytical ability and excellent communication skills. Rachel worked for several years as a research scientist at the Met Office, developing state-of-the-art high-resolution numerical weather prediction models, before moving into climate science consultancy with Arup. At Arup, Rachel provided scientific and technical consultancy services for a wide range of clients in the built environment sector within a sustainable design remit, in particular giving specialist advice on meteorology and climate change related issues, such as analysis of IPCC and regional climate change scenarios and impacts for master-planning and developments worldwide and also performing building physics studies to recommend climate change adaptation measures for both new builds and domestic retrofit. She also served on the UKCP09 User Panel. Now working in a freelance capacity, Rachel is currently engaged as Built Environment Sector Champion for the UK’s First Climate Change Risk Assessment, which will be presented to Parliament in 2012. |
