Recycling Efficiency

Responsibly disposing of e-waste, unwanted electrical or electronic devices, should formulate a key part of any organisation’s sustainability strategy and carbon reduction programme. The disposal of e-waste carries a number of business and environmental risks that must be addressed. Industry RE Sustainability (IRES) is able to help eliminate your electronic waste to the highest environmental standards and will provide certification and an audit trail of every item that is recycled for your organisation.

IRES can provide a complete end-to-end e-waste recycling service that is able to serve the needs of European businesses. We understand the importance of your organisation’s brand and the messages you communicate to employees, stakeholders and customers. Our e-waste solutions allow your organisation to enjoy the flexibility to recycle, in line with your business values, and focus on environmental damage limitation. IRES adopts a zero tolerance policy to any electronic waste products reaching landfill.

Our ‘recycling efficiency’ service is unique because we also embed carbon credits into our recycling process. We ensure that every journey made to collect your e-waste is offset and contributes to a carbon neutral environment.

Service offering

IRES offer a multi-faceted approach to ensuring complete recycling efficiency. We grade all items that we collect as ‘operational’ and ‘non-operational’ products. ‘Operational’ items will be given an asset value and IRES will comply, with a profit share, on the responsible re-use of these products (this is subject to the organisation’s discretion). ‘Non-operational’ items will either be broken down into component parts for re-use or sent to our facilities for smelting. The incineration process breaks down goods into precious metals, glass, other metals and plastics, which will then be re-used in manufacturing industries or used to provide energy.

We will collect the goods from your offices and manage the entire logistics process from collection through to the final destination of your e-waste. In summary, IRES will:

  • Provide a value assessment of your end-of-life assets
  • Arrange for the pick-up and removal of your e-waste inventories (this may be chargeable, dependent upon the nature of your goods)
  • Provide data erasure services
  • De-manufacture e-waste for ‘operational’ and ‘non-operational’ items
  • Provide a smelting service for ‘non-operational’ items
  • Offset carbon emissions from the journeys used to collect your e-waste
  • Drop bins for offices to recycle toner cartridges
  • Drop bins for staff to take home to pack-up their e-waste items and transport back to the office for recycling.
  • Provide a carbon neutral process

IRES will ensure we help your organisation to reduce its carbon footprint by effectively recycling your e-waste. This is one more step in your sustainability journey towards achieving carbon neutrality.

Every pick-up will be offset with carbon credits to ensure that your organisation is minimising its emissions. ‘Non-operational’ items will be sent to our recycling facility to ensure that we do not landfill any products, further minimising emissions to the environment.

We are committed to ensuring that all materials involved in the transportation of ‘non-operational’ items are recycled to the highest industry standards.

Responsible business

Recycling will help eliminate long-term detrimental impacts to the environment. Some of the simplest items to recycle can have the most effective impact. Recycling and re- using e-waste is essential to helping the environment.

According to a 2010 UNEP report, the amount of e-waste being produced, including mobile phones and computers, could rise by as much as 500% over the next decade in some countries, such as India.

An old mobile phone that is not responsibly recycled can pollute up to 600,000 litres of water. Laptops dumped in landfills contain harmful lead in the screens as well as a number of other toxic chemicals that are triggered by extreme heat.
